2 Corinthians 8:9

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich. NKJV

In the above passage the word ‘became poor’ means to become destitute or become poor as a beggar. It implies extreme poverty where one is totally lacking in material goods. The key question therefore is, “When did Jesus become poor?” In order to answer this question we need to look at the Word of God. Certainly Jesus was not poor when He was in heaven together with the Father. We are told of the New Jerusalem in Revelation 21 that the city is made of pure gold and precious stones.

It is not difficult to prove from the word of God that while Jesus walked on earth, there was no time when He failed to accomplish His task because of lack. The ministry of Jesus had full time workers who were supported by the ministry. Among the people that left all to follow Jesus were business men, professional men (one of whom was a former tax collector very likely he was rich man before), men with families etc. The Bible says that Jesus had ministry partners comprised of ‘women… and many others who provided for Him from their substance’ Luke 8:1-3. The Bible clearly tells us that Jesus ministry had a treasurer who was even stealing from the ministry but that had no effect on the operations of the ministry. The ministry of Jesus was giving to the poor. Should it happen that they needed to pay some bills but for some other reason the treasury was not available, nature was readily available to provide the needed resources. You can read the account in Matt 17:24-27. If more people turned up for a meeting that expected heaven was ready to multiply food (John 6:-14). On the cross soldiers had to cast lots just to get the clothing that must have been specially made for Him by a ministry partner!  There is no record that Jesus was ever admitted in a hospital through out His life on earth. The life of Jesus was adequately provided for. We can conclude therefore that Jesus was not poor during His earthly ministry.

Jesus is not poor now in Heaven at the right hand of the Father.

But there was a time when Jesus became poor. Jesus became poor on the cross when He was hanging naked. The reason the Jesus became poor is that you and me should become rich. Jesus became poor so that we can have the life of abundance.  We can conclude therefore that divine prosperity belongs to us by covenant.  Jesus said, “The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).” John 10:10 (Amplified)

If you can believe this, it will not be long before you start seeing the manifestation. The Lord bless you walk in walk in divine prosperity
