Matt 14:29-32
And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, "Lord, save me!" And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?" And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. (NKJV)
As long as Peter fixed his eyes on Jesus he was able to walk on water. When he looked at waves and the wind the Bible says he was afraid. As a result he began to sink. Jesus rebuked Peter for his doubt. Here is something very important: faith and fear do not occupy the same room. In the walk of faith you must take your eyes off everything that surrounds you. Take your eyes off your problems. Fix your eyes on Jesus. Fix your eyes on the Word. When Peter began to sink he cried out. Why I love Peter is that he clearly shows that in our walk of faith we can fail. It is possible to fail as we walk in faith. Failure is no cause for you to give up. You might be reading this message and you feel defeated. Let me tell you something: You can start all over again. Our God is a God of second chance. In the school of faith it is possible to recover when you miss it. All you need to do is to cry out for help like Peter did. The Bible says:
For a righteous man may fall seven times and rise again (Prov 24:16). When Peter called the Bible records: And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him. And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.
What a powerful account! Did you realise that Peter walked on water twice? First he walked alone then with Jesus into the boat. When Peter placed his hand into the Hand of Jesus it was impossible to sink him. Jesus is the Word of God. The Bible is the Word of God in print. When you place your whole life into the Word of God you cannot sink! Let the Word keep you. Let the Word protect you. Let the Word surround you. Go in the power of His word and be an overcomer in Jesus Name! 2007 might have been hard. But look out for new opportunities in 2008.
The Lord bless you. |
